‘blue’
Borders of place
Borders of skin
Borders of light
Memories of the rag trade
The seagulls talk about it
We don’t listen
Still girders hold vigil
Colour flies out the window
Wind lifts the blue
Heating system footsteps
Clouds linger
Reluctant to hear the birds today
The seagulls, today
Pinpricks of other stories
Rivets of tension
Where do I sit?
Where do I sit?
Suspended blue
Vulnerable and dispossessed
Spiralling portals of air
The river feeds us
Ambulance to the rescue
Sink into the earth
Be held
Be comforted
Woman in a dress
One window open
The gutters are full
And bouncing
Clod hopping rain
Dark daytime
Can’t read
Fallen blue
Re-hung
A change of direction
More aerial
Is it permanent?
Escape
The emergency stairs
Stare at me
The blue imitates leaving
As I do
Returning seeds grow
Thoughts stretching
Take shape
The seagulls sing through rain
Falling water
Lifts my spirits
Lines of light
Fold over the building
Ladders of release
In the back alley
Patterns of light hold the space
Warm air tumbles in
Container and contained
A window opens the body
